Who Is Shane Barr

Hello World!  My name's Shane Barr.  I live near Orlando, Florida with my husband and teen-aged daughter.  An avid reader, I will read pretty much anything I can get my hands on!  My creative interests are varied--I have been known to paint, draw, sketch, knit or even make jewelry, but I love to write.

Like most responsible parents out there, I found myself reading all of the books that my daughter enjoyed.  Some were pretty awesome--others, not so much.  Recently, I decided that I wanted to write books that wouldn't require a heavy amount of censoring for my daughter--or other younger people to read and enjoy.

My first book to be released is Reset.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

What's In Your Mind?

Meet Tia...

I have spent the last few years lying to my parents.  I pretend that I am listening to what they have to say yet all the while I am actively tuning them out.  After all, I am a teenager and what could they possibly know that I can’t find out from my friends or Google?  The day I realized the error of my ways started like any other.

December 15 I have to do a family tree for History class. Ugh. That's going to be rather difficult since my Tiger Mom doesn't know her father. Oh well. I suppose I'll wing it on her side. Dad's family traces back to the dang Mayflower. I guess I'll start with the three of us and work my way backward.... I'm going to add descriptions and other stuff because it makes it seem more real, less clinical. Dad (Edward Russell Jameson) Mom (Elena Lee Jameson) Brown hair, hazel eyes Black hair, brown eyes wears glasses 1/2 Vietnamese also, has a glass eye Expert markswoman & blackbelt Chief of Staff of Neurology Attorney (super fierce) Me (Tia Noelle Jameson--16) chestnut brown hair, greenish eyes 5'6"--athletic build 2nd Degree blackbelt/ State Champion in long range rifle I sure hope that is going to satisfy the ruler of History class. Crap, I have to go study for Algebra. I hate Algebra. Do we really use that stuff later in life? Seriously?!
January 1 Happy New Year! I survived the holidays--not sure how. Two very different grandmas in one house. Wow. Just Wow. Good news, I got the new Big Kettle Drum cd from Mom and a book on how to survive in almost any situation from Dad...thanks Dad. You really know what a girl likes--NOT! Also, I scored a babysitting gig for spring break. The Wilsons from church hired me to watch their kids. So, yay for me! Their kids, Jackson and Caroline, are super easy to watch. It's almost like they are robot-controlled--love an easy gig. On a much more important note, they live next door to Adam Brewster. Yes, THE ADAM BREWSTER! The captain of the Olympia High Titans Basketball team...The blonde-haired Adonis that all the girls swoon for. Him. He will be right next door to me for the entire WEEK! OMG! Cliche alert! Adam's apparently dating the captain of the cheerleading squad: Sophia Chamberlin. Yep. I think she's a clone they put in every school to make the rest of us feel inferior. Gag. She's so perfect. How do you get a mustard stain out of a t-shirt? Crap. And that is why I love wearing black!
SPRING BREAK BEGINS!!! Monday Morning My BFF, Lexi Donegan left for a field trip. I miss her. Wish I could hang out with her when I'm not baby-sitting. She's the Yin to my Yang. The Chai to my Latte. If someone took a picture of us, we'd look like negatives of each other. Her blonde hair and blue eyes are so different than me. But she's a geek like me. Lexi's been my bestie since Kindergarten! Gotta get my workout in this morning. I never miss a workout. I sometimes wish I could, but it does become a weird part of your daily existence. I especially relish those times when I can toss someone on their butts. It gives me a secret thrill I think is reserved for us "petite" girls that people tend to underestimate. Mwahaha. I have a great workout planned this morning. Then, off to the Wilsons' to watch their kidlets. It's going to be an awesome week. Hope Adam is outside shooting some hoops...
Spring Break...Monday Night Oh my God! Can't even begin to explain all the weird stuff that happened today Just don't even understand . In a safe place now...met some peculiar people along the way. There's this guy; his name is PeeWee. I have no idea how to describe him. He's...
He's...
Well, he's special. Can't really write more now--too crazy! Not sure I should even be writing about it...

What's In Your Mind?

All good things take time, patience, and a good deal of determination to accomplish.  Reset took all of this and more from me, but none of it would have been possible without the love and support of some very dear people.  The idea for Reset came to me four years ago.  It took me a while to let the voices out of my head and put them down on paper.

The writing of a work of science fiction takes a great deal of research.  Yes, it is fiction, but the best works of fiction have an element of truth that seem plausible.  On this page, you will find links to some helpful sites that I visited in researching the science behind Reset.

Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for The Be Brave Foundation, a Central Florida charity that grants financial assistance to families of children fighting cancer.  I am proud to announce that a portion of the sales of The Reset Trilogy will be donated to The Be Brave Foundation.

Thanks for reading Reset.  Check back frequently for updates on my progress with Resist, book two of The Reset Trilogy.
